Reports of Tibetan nuns arrested

Friday, 21 March 2008

Free Tibet Campaign’s contact in Dharamsala has spoken to a reliable source in Aba county by phone. The source confirmed that dozens of nuns from the Mani monastery had been arrested. Mani nunnery is situated about three km from Aba town in Sichuan province. The source also said that many more Tibetans in the area were reported missing. The source said that it was impossible to confirm whether the Tibetans reported missing had been killed or arrested.

Our contact in Dharamsala also spoke by phone to a very reliable source in Gannan city (Gansu Province). The source confirmed that three nomads had been arrested in the city on 18 March, along with a shopowner from Ganja town in Xiahe town (Gansu Province).
