Thank you! We've had a record number of donations which have exceeded our target and raised a total of £10,746 for Tibet Watch.
Thanks to your fantastic support, we now have raised over half of the funds needed to run the Tibet Watch field office for an entire year. Any further donations to Tibet Match will no longer be doubled, but all funds raised will still go directly to the field office in India.
Have you read news from Tibet on our website or taken action in one of our campaigns? None of this would be possible without our research partner Tibet Watch.
Without Tibet Watch, Free Tibet couldn't turn the international media spotlight on Tibet, couldn't provide evidence to the UN of China's human rights abuses and couldn't obtain the up-to-date information we need to continue our campaigns.
From their office in Dharamsala, northern India, Tibet Watch researchers collate and corroborate testimonies and eye-witness accounts of human rights abuses in Tibet.
Tibetans risk life imprisonment for speaking out about the lack of freedom, so Tibet Watch must protect its sources by ensuring its communication systems aren't vulnerable to intrusion. As Tibetans with friends and family living under occupation, our researchers must also maintain their own anonymity.
Will you help Tibet Watch this February?
During the week of Tibet Match any donation you make could be matched by a small group of generous philanthropists.
Funds raised during Tibet Match will go directly to support the Tibet Watch field office. It costs:
- $15 for a month of local IT support
- $40 for travel to interviews with Tibetan refugees
- $50 to communicate news to Free Tibet safely for a month
- $75 to maintain secure communications for a month with contacts inside Tibet
- $300 to help pay for researchers’ salaries
Every pound you donate will be matched between 9am (GMT) Monday 1 February and midnight (GMT) Sunday 7 February, up to a total of £5,000. You can donate from anywhere in the world.
