Organise a screening of 'The Forbidden Team'
The Forbidden Team is an hour-long documentary which tells the moving story of a group of Tibetan sportsmen struggling against the odds to play in Tibet’s first international football match.
In the run up to the Beijing Olympics, organising a screening of The Forbidden Team is an excellent way to educate people about Tibet or inspire current supporters.
Screenings can be as big or as small as you want – from hiring a screen at a local cinema or a community hall for a larger audience to simply screening it in your front room for friends and family.
These screenings are intended to be not for profit and free, however if you choose to hire a screen at your local cinema or a community hall you can charge an entry fee to cover the cost.
Once you have decided what type of screening you would like to hold, you will need to think about three things: the date for your screening, publicity, and technical requirements.
Between now and the end of the Beijing games a screening of The Forbidden Team will be at its most relevant. Your screening can be on any date, but make sure you give yourself plenty of time beforehand to publicise it.
Free Tibet can provide you with posters for you to advertise your event. If you are holding a screening at a cinema or community hall you can also contact local press to place your event in their ‘what’s on’ listings. You should also invite them to the screening.
Technical requirements are quite straightforward. The film is on DVD so you will need to check whether a local cinema can screen this format. Some local halls have pull down screens and projectors. If your hall doesn’t have these, you can hire them quite easily. In some cases a DVD player and a large television will be quite sufficient.
Mail us with the details of your screening event to borrow a copy of the film.
