For centuries, nomads have lived sustainably with the delicate eco-system of the vast Tibetan plateau.

As stewards of the rolling grasslands, they travel huge distances with their yaks and other livestock, allowing the fragile soils to recover year to year.

But now, hundreds of thousands of Tibetan nomads are being wrenched off their land and thrown into desolate tenement housing where they are no longer able to sustain themselves. The land is cleared to make way for strip-mining projects which seriously damage the environment.
