Tibet in the news: 2008

2008 was a significant year for the Tibetan cause, as the largest Tibetan uprising since 1959 showed the world that Tibetans in Tibet reject Chinese rule and wish to have their rights and freedoms respected. The subsequent brutal crackdowns on these protests were widely condemned, and human rights in China and Tibet were key issues during the Beijing Olympics in August 2008.
