Panchen Lama vigil 2010 |
Vigil for the Panchen Lama
Supporters lit candles on the steps of St. Martin-in-the-Fields church in London's Trafalgar Square. They were there to mark the 21st birthday of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the boy who went missing aged just six after the Dalai Lama recognised him as the reincarnation of the Panchen Lama.
The Chinese authorities have failed to provide verifiable information about his whereabouts and wellbeing, and the boy who was once known as the world's youngest political prisoner is still missing.
Many Free Tibet supporters from around the world sponsored candles for the Panchen Lama which were lit on their behalf.
