Big Give Update
Thank you for your support so far.
We've done it! We are delighted to be able to tell you that we have reached our target of £6,000 for Tibet Watch and that all those donations have been matched to give us a total of £12,000. Thank you to all those who donated.
What now?
If you haven't yet donated, you still can. The Big Give online challenge is still live. Your donation will not be matched but your support would still be hugely appreciated.
It currently costs £16,500 to run our Tibet Watch office in India for one year. We have nearly raised that sum and with your help we could get there. Please click here to donate.
About Tibet Watch
Tibet Watch is a registered charity monitoring human rights in Tibet. In fact, without Tibet Watch, Free Tibet simply wouldn’t be able to turn the international media spotlight on Tibet. Tibet is essentially closed to foreign media and Tibetans face serious risks, including life imprisonment, if they disseminate information.
From their India office in Dharamsala, Tibet Watch researchers speak to a range of contacts, collating and corroborating testimonies and eye-witness accounts of human rights abuses in Tibet, including torture and cases of arbitrary detention.
This ‘witnessing’ provides protection. The information Tibet Watch gathers is used by UN-mandated human rights bodies, the media, Governments and campaigning organisations, such as Free Tibet. Tibet Watch makes a huge difference: documenting cases when advocacy has prevented torture, reduced sentences and forced the state to take a more proportionate response to large scale incidents.
