We've updated our online petition calling for Chinese restraint in response to the unrest in Tibet.
This is to reflect that the recent incidents are not confined to Ngaba and that they underline a wider rejection of Chinese occupation and repression in Tibet. Sign the petition.
Protest in Tibet
Twelve Tibetans have set themselves on fire this year in protest at Chinese policies such as:
- supression of religious freedom
- human rights abuses
- torture of prisoners
Video has recently emerged of thousands of Tibetans gathering at a vigil for Palden Choetso, a 35-year-old nun who died after setting fire to herself on 3 November 2011.
